This is a developmental website for the GFN and Consortium for Child Abuse and Neglect (C/CAN) project

The mission of C/CAN is to educate and advocate against child abuse and neglect to make Genesee County a safe place for all children to live.

WiredSafety provides help, information and education to Internet and mobile device users of all ages. We help victims of cyberabuse ranging from online fraud, cyberstalking and child safety, to hacking and malicious code attacks. We also help parents with issues, such as MySpace and cyberbullying.

  Internet 101 consists of two types of information; a basic overview of each subject - in layman's terms for new or non-technical users and a more technical overview of each subject (where applicable) - for those who are more experienced in technical terms and/or prefer to take the technical route. Either way, if you want to learn more about the basics of the Internet, you have arrived at the right place.

NetSmartz Where a Safer Place online is a Fun Time online!

 Communication is an effective tool for parents and guardians when helping their children avoid the dangers that exist on the Internet. NetSmartz provides on- and offline learning activities for parents to facilitate discussions with their children and teens about Internet safety.

  i-SAFE Inc. is the worldwide leader in Internet safety education. Founded in 1998 and endorsed by the U.S. Congress, i-SAFE is a non-profit foundation dedicated to protecting the online experiences of youth everywhere.

Whether playing, shopping, studying or just surfing, today's kids are taking advantage of all that the web has to offer. But when it comes to their personal information online, who's in charge? In an effort to put parents in the catbird seat, the Federal Trade Commission has established rules for website operators to make sure that kids' privacy is protected while they're online.
