Uploading Text
Make sure your ascii file is "true"
ascii (no cntrl or binary characters). Move or copy it to your "upload"
subdirectory, ie the subdirectory you specify for uploads in your communications
software.
Login to the GFN and start an email with "Compose." Complete the
header and put the cursor in the "text" portion. Begin the upload
with your comm software, USING ASCII TEXT TRANSFER PROTOCOL ONLY. Uploads
on the GFN work only with an ascii protocol upload. You'll see your file
writing itself out on the screen as if you're typing it. Then send the email.
Our version of the Pine email program can't handle binary uploads or attachments.
On the other hand, you can get the UUENCODE/UUDECODE program that changes
binary to ascii from many software repositories
