Call to order at
5:22pm. Chair Dennis Cavanaugh presiding.
Vice Chair Larry Porn moved
that Janet Craig be appointed Board member for the rest of the year. Board
member Scott Gifford supported the motion. The motion passed by unanimous
consent.
Most of the meeting time was spent discussing implementation of
Managed Modem service from Lynx Network Group/Telnet World Wide. Managed Modem
service will be on line by March, 2007.
There
were unanswered questions on the readiness of RADIUS to function with the
Managed Modem service. Other questions were raised as to the number of lines for
Montrose service and existence of a trunk line into Montrose from Telnet World
Wide. There was speculation on the amount of reduction of bandwith use through
OTC. With Managed Modem service, bandwidth will be used only to access the email
and Web servers and for RADIUS authentication.
Scott Gifford will contact
Kenny Thomas on the RADIUS question. Also, Scott will look at RADIUS for high
usage telephone numbers to port to Telnet World Wide. Phase 1 of switching
members to Telnet World Wide lines will be to determine which current GFN
dial-in numbers can be ported so that the service change would be transparent.
Phase 2 would have members switch to a new dial-in number where a change must be
made.
Other Matters.
No Board member volunteered to participate in
this year's Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) lockup fund
raiser.
For marketing efforts it was suggested that GFN focus on
advertising to churches and other non-profit entities.
Adjournment: 6:17pm.
Next Board
Meeting.
Thursday, March 22, 2007, 5:15pm at the
Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, 316 Water Street.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Solomon T Johnson, Secretary
Addendum: Georgia Kitchen and Debra Miller have resigned from the
Board.
