Minutes of Genesee Free-Net Board of Directors Meeting

Meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm.

Chad Cramer presented updated content to the Web site.  The content
was discussed and informally approved for publication.  Chad also
reports that the content management system will be ready soon.

Janet reported problems with the new Vista workstation in the office.
The office staff will work on repairing it or have Dell repair it
under warranty.

Larry reports that we've received fewer reports of disconnects and
authentication problems, although many users are still trying to use
the old dialin numbers.  Also SMTPS on port 465 seems to help cable
modem and DSL users work around their ISPs firewalls.

Some mail server disconnect problems were discussed, and Chad will
look into whether the mail server is being automatically rebooted.

Larry reports a free account user is accumulating large amounts of
time.  Scott will look at the software that manages this.

We discussed purchasing a new server.  Denny spoke to Kenny to get the
specs for a new server he is looking at: 3 x 250GB ATA hard drives,
2-core 1.9GHz processors, 16GB RAM.
Denny presented the financial report.  We are losing about $12,000 a
year, and have about $43,000 in savings and CDs.

Larry reports that access to the BackOffice modem monitoring system
has been restricted, because it can reveal user password information.

Denny is working on a Doing-Business-As application to let use use the
name GFN instead of Genesee Free-Net.
