Security Problem for OE Users.
The mail server sometimes cannot validate through RADIUS. Members are getting a pop up message that indicates the GFN validation certificate is out of date. A new certificate has been ordered by Kenny Thomas and should be on in a couple of days. Estimated cost of the certificate was $399 for three years duration.
Office Report.
Larry Porn reported there was a problem with the modem pool on Monday, June 23rd around 3pm. Questioned was whether Spam is aggressively filtering email being forwarded to other ISPs. Also questioned was whether the Spam filters in Spam Assassin could be installed to automatically filter Web Mail.
Financial Report.
Denny Cavanaugh reported that the ELGA checking balance was $150 and that $25,000 was held in certificates of deposit (CDs.) There was $11,000 in the savings account. At GFN monthly depletion rate of about $1400, Denny estimated about two (2) years viability left. Sixty dollars ($60) was paid for a sign to be used at a Farmers Market booth.
Website Report.
Chad Cramer reported that the CMS (content management system) is on. No individual accounts have been set up yet. Links to About, Help and What's New are now working on the GFN Web page. Larry Porn appears anxious to work with CMS to see if web pages for Lion's clubs can now be hosted with email addresses for Lion's club members. Chad will send Larry some sample web page templates. Also mentioned was possible infrastructure implementation so that Custom Accounts may use CMS to setup individual web sites.
Systems Report.
Kenny Thomas was not present to report on progress of full implementation of the new server. Scott Gifford reported on the PayPal account set up for GFN. There was discussion of account renewal frequencies to allow: three months, six months and yearly. Preference was expressed for the quarterly renewal frequency if renewal for less than one year is implemented. Contributions could be $6 a month for members renewing quarterly ($18 a PayPal transaction.) GFN PayPal fees were estimated as thirty cents (30 cents) a transaction plus 2% to 3% of the transaction amount.
Matters Arising.
Scott Gifford distributed an info-letter on an organization named The Consortium on Child Abuse and Neglect (C/CAN) and invited GFN to partner with the group in developing a curriculum facilitating training on Internet safety to help protect Genesee County's children from cyber-bullying and sexual predators. The curriculum would be used to make presentations to parents, churches and school staffs as well as to preschool through teenage children.
Larry Porn moved and Chad Cramer seconded that representatives from GFN meet with representatives from C/CAN for particulars of their program for creating a child safety Internet program. The motion passed. Larry Porn, Chad Cramer and Denny Cavanaugh agreed to be the GFN representatives.
Adjournment: 6:08pm.
Next Board Meeting.

Respectfully Submitted,
