Call to order at 5:07pm. Chair Dennis Cavanaugh presiding.
Status of Office.
Office staff volunteer Chris Hall delivered two file cabinets donated to GFN by his employer. Office staff are still trying to get the office organized. There have been system problems with the office computer and staff needs to properly file office documents. There was a flooding incident in the office space on Wednesday, June 17th, caused by sewer backup during a heavy rainfall event. It was recommended that the office carpet be steamed cleaned after it dries out. Blocks are needed to get file cabinets and any other items off the office floor. Larry will bring blocks in to the office.
What Next with magic Jack?
A new magic Jack unit has been received. Need to have call forwarding on busy set by AT&T.
Systems Report.
GFN is host to a new Web site, MBEA@gfn.org. Drupal will be the Web management software used. The paperwork for Drupal needs to be sent and GFN needs to revamp Organization Account pricing structure. Scott is still working with the Resource Genesee Web site resulting in GFN getting familiar with serving as website host. Larry is working with Lions Clubs on managing their Web sites with Drupal. Scott and Chad are working on documentation for Drupal and Larry and Scott will meet to discuss website management using Drupal.
The Tech Committee has been investigating a replacement Untangle server and presented to the Board a proposal to purchase a refurbished Sun server through Tex Soup.org. After some discussion, Larry Porn moved and Nicki Hodge supported the purchase. The motion carried
Consultant Reimbursement.
No report was received from Kenny Thomas on service rendered for the month. The approved fee of $400 will be paid and Board approval sought if hours eventually submitted compute to a higher amount.
Transfer of GFN Board Vice Chair to Scott Gifford.
Position accepted by Scott and approved unanimously by the Board effective for the next Board meeting.
Transfer of GFN Board Chair to Larry Porn.
Position accepted by Larry and approved unanimously by the Board effective for the next Board meeting.
Denny Cavanaugh will continue to serve as GFN Treasurer.
Matters Arising.
GFN is losing about fifteen (15) members a month. Chad will send a list of Saint John Vianney e-mail users to Larry for setup in the database. The Telnet Worldwide bill got lost and Denny paid $692.75 without invoice to avoid a late payment penalty.
Peak modem use is about twenty-four (24) modems simultaneously in use at a time. Some Telnet Worldwide dial in numbers will be ported to 123.com. Modem configuration will be changed between Telnet Worldwide and 123.com. The Flint, Davison and Fenton dial in numbers will be ported to Telnet Worldwide from 123.com. PRI units at Telnet Worldwide will be reduced to one (1) from two (2), that is from forty-six (46) modems to twenty-three (23) modems. Ten (10) modems may be added to 123.com since modems there may be subscribed to one at a time as needed.
