Change DialUp Number 2000
Changing the dial-up number for a modem using Win 2000
- Left click on the Start at the bottom of your screen task bar. A menu will appear.
- Select (Setting) and a side menu will appear
- Select Network and Dial up Connections.
This Dial-Up Networking page will show all of your connections. Select your connection for the Genesee Free-Net by placing you mouse pointer on the Icon and use your RIGHT mouse button to obtain the drop-down menu. Select the Properties item in the menu.
The properties for the GFN connection are shown below. Change the telephone number from 249-0300 to the number 223-0301. Or other as listed for your area.
Select OK to close the window. Your new phone number will be set. Note that the connection shown above has the prefix, *70, included in the phone number to disable call waiting. This may also have been done using a check in the "Use are code and Dialing Properties" Box or you may not have call waiting. If the *70, is in the current phone number leave it as a prefix to the new number.
