Required Information

  1. Copy of college transcripts, 160 hour certificate, proof of officer certification, and/or paramedic license must be submitted with application. Official transcripts may be required at a later date.
  2. Veterans must submit Form DD214 to determine eligibility for Veterans' Preference.
  3. A physician statement and Waiver & Release form will be required for the physical agility test.  Forms are available at the Personnel Department.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs general security work within the Jail; works under the direction of a Sergeant; Corrections Deputies are deputized for specific functions within the Jail only.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Sixty(60)semester hours of college; -OR- Must have 160 hour Correction Officer Training Certificate from the Michigan Department of Corrections; -OR- Certified Police Officer; -OR- Licensed Paramedic; -OR- Three (3) years experience as a Corrections Officer in a jail facility.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours. Training in CPR and First Aid is preferred. No felony convictions.

PLEASE NOTE: QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST. APPLICANTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE AGILITY TEST WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR THE WRITTEN TEST.  A $15 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE WILL BE CHARGED TO TAKE THE WRITTEN TEST.
