All applicants for a license to carry a concealed pistol must have knowledge and must have had training in the safe use and handling of a pistol by the successful completion of a pistol training course or class. MCL 28.425b(7)(c).

This is to certify that __________________________________ has successfully completed a pistol safety training course certified by this state or a national or state firearms training organization. The pistol safety training course complied with the requirements of the law, MCL 28.425j. The instructor of the course was certified by this state or a national organization to teach the 8-hour pistol safety training course.

The program complied with the requirements of the law by providing instruction in, but not limited to, all of the following:

• The safe storage, use, and handling of a pistol including safe storage, use and handling to protect a child,
• Ammunition knowledge, and the fundamentals of pistol shooting,
• Pistol shooting position,
• Firearms and the law, including civil liability issues,
• Avoiding criminal attack and controlling a violent confrontation,
• All laws that apply to carrying a concealed pistol in this state,
• At least 8 hours of instruction, including 3 hours of firing range time.
