Four
vandals'
high-tech
surveillance
failed
to
help
them
thwart
a
Genesee
County
sheriff's
deputy
acting
as
a
security
guard
at
Goodrich
High
School
early
this
morning.
Undersheriff
James
Gage
said
a
deputy
had
been
stationed
at
the
school
because
of
anticipated
Spirit
Week
activities
and
concerns
over
possible
break-ins.
That's
exactly
what
happened
at
3:02
a.m.,
when
Deputies
Matt
McKay
and
Dan
Livingston
spotted
three
young
men
inside
the
school
and
chased
them
as
they
fled.
They
caught
two
of
the
young
men
and
arrested
a
third
who
was
using
his
cellphone
in
the
woods
nearby
to
text-message
information
to
the
other
suspects
about
a
deputy's
location
in
the
building.
A
fourth
suspect
who
escaped
has
been
identified
and
police
were
actively
seeking
him
this
morning.
All
are
17-year-old
Goodrich
High
School
students.
No
estimate
on
the
cost
of
damages
was
available
this
morning,
but
Gage
said
the
youths
broke
ceiling
tiles
and
caused
other
destruction
inside
the
school
before
they
were
interrupted
by
the
deputies.
They
will
be
arraigned
later
today
on
charges
including
breaking
and
entry,
vandalism
and
resisting
and
obstructing.
