Dear SJV Chess Families,

Over the next few days I will be calling parents of current chess club members to see if your child is planning to play at the State competition on Feb. 6.

I have to register our teams a little over one week in advance, so as a result I need to know who wants to play before the end of this week.

There are several different sections, since two of our players can only play in the K-6 section I am in particular hoping to have at least one more 6th grader commit to playing. This will allow me to keep the younger players in the lower sections rather than having to play them "up" in the older section.

I am inviting anyone from SJV who is interested in playing to be on our teams and represent SJV even if they have not been attending our practices. However, each team is composed of four players and to be fair I will fill the seats with current Chess Club members, then past members before opening them up to others. You will definitely know before going whether or not your child will be playing so there will not be any wasted trips.

If you know for sure either way, please let me know either via e-mail or phone. Since there is a financial obligation and other players are counting on your child in order to play please do not "back out" for any but the most serious of reasons. A sudden change of heart or unexpected basketball game would not be serious enough reasons.

Also, I sent home Permission Slips with the Chess Club members. It gives some more information such as the approximate cost of $36. It should be slightly less than this and if your child is in the 3rd grade or lower it will be less.

Thank You,
