BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, BOTH LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY,
RECOGNIZE INDIVIDUALS WHO PERFORM COURAGEOUS OR MERITORIOUS ACTION.
THERE ARE 5 LEVELS OF RECOGNITION.
THERE IS A CRITICAL TIME ELEMENT - FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITHIN
6 MONTHS OF THE ACTION.
THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE IS USED TO SUBMIT THE NAME OF A SCOUT OR
SCOUTER FOR ANY OF THE OF LIFESAVING AND MERITORIOUS ACTION AWARDS.
ANY PERSON:
1. Any person who believes a Scout or Scouter has performed
action that deserves recognition may submit the correct
form to the Council Advancement Committee through
the Scout Service Center.
2. Complete the top half of page 1. and the applicable portions of
pages 2, 3, and 4. Be sure to include as much information
as possible.
COUNCIL ADVANCEMENT COMMITTEE:
1. The Council Advancement Committee investigates the
Recommendation.
2. The Council Advancement Committee submits the recommendation
to the Council Office, if the action warrants Council
or National recognition.
COUNCIL OFFICE:
1. The Council Office will submit recommendations for
national recognition to National Headquarters.
2. If approved, the Council Office will contact the Council Advancement
Chairman when the award arrives.
3. If local recognition is deemed appropriate Council Office will
make arrangements with the recipient's family.
COUNCIL ADVANCEMENT CHAIRMAN:
1. The Council Advancement Chairman contacts the person
who submitted the application and the family of the
recipient to inform them of the date, time, and place
of the award ceremony.
