Every other spring, the Tall Pine Council
(next Hike-a-thon April 28th, 2007) holds a
fundraiser to help Scouts and Units raise money to go
towards camp, or the purchase of other Scouting necessities.
It offers everyone in the Unit and families an excellent
opportunity to get outside and enjoy the spring weather.
Scouts collect sponsorships prior to the event and the
Unit turns them 10 days prior to the event (A Scout
does not have to participate with their Unit.) Scouts
will earn "Scout Bucks" for certain levels
of Sponsorships. These can be used to pay for a summer
camp experience or used in the Scout Shop. The Unit
can also receive a percentage of the total funds raised
by their Scouts.
The event itself is much more than just a hike. It includes many
activities and advancement opportunities for Scouts. Activities are
located near the registration area to entertain Scouts during the
check-in process. The Hike-A-Thon is a great fund-raiser, but also
a great activity for your Scouts and you.
