Position Explanations

Committee Chair: Conducts monthly Pack/Troop/Crew Committee Meeting to help plan program. Ensures that adequate support to run program is given to Cubmaster/Scoutmaster/Adviser and other Leaders by Committee Members. Helps recruit additional leaders as needed. Attends Training and promotes other leaders to attend training.

Committee Member: Provides support by taking care of records, finances, advancement, activities, membership, etc. Attends monthly Pack/Troop/Crew Committee Meeting to help plan program. Attends training.

Cubmaster: Conducts monthly Pack Meeting. Aids Den Leaders by coordinating monthly program for all leaders. Attends monthly Pack Leaders Meeting. Attends Training and promotes other leaders to attend training. Has one or more assistants.

Den Leader: Meets weekly for one hour with den of boys. Den Meeting is held in Den Leader's home, church or other suitable place. Den Leader determines time, day and location of Den Meeting that is most convenient for him/her. Attends training. Has one or more assistants and parent helpers.

Webelos Den Leader: Same as the Den Leader except works with older Scouts in the Cub Scout program and encourages periodic parent/son overnight campouts. (Parents or other adult must attend camp outs, with few exceptions.) Attends training. Has one or more assistants and parent helpers.

Assistant Den/Webelos Leader: Assists Den/Webelos Leader weekly in working with the Scouts during the Den Meeting. Attends Training.

Scoutmaster: Give counsel to the Senior Patrol Leader. Help SPL run the weekly Troop Meetings. Gives leadership to Assistant Scoutmasters working with Patrols by coordinating monthly program through SPL. Make sure the Troop is "Delivering the Promise of Scouting" to the boys. Attends training and promotes Assistant Scoutmasters and Junior Leaders to attend.

Assistant Scoutmaster: Works with patrol, within Troop, to help them plan their activities and gives them guidance in those activities. Works to make sure Scouts are moving ahead and advancing in the program. Attends training.

Venture/Exploring Advisor: Works with Venturers/Explorers and associate advisors to plan program for Crew/Post. Makes sure Crew/Post meets on regular basis, gives guidance to the Crew/Post President and Cabinet, and helps recruit other adults to assist in running the program. Attends training and promotes other leaders to attend also.

Parents: Assist pack/troop/crew and/or den/patrol with specific projects as needed by the leaders.
