Cub Scout Activities

There is a wide variety of fun activities for Cub Scouts, their dens, and their packs to participate in. These activities can be hosted by the den, pack, district or the Council. To insure a good time and the safety of the participants, we are providing the following information.

Whenever a Cub Scout is involved in an activity, there needs to be two deep leadership in attendance at all times. The unit leadership should obtain and be familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting. If the activity is away from the regular meeting place, they will need to file a Tour Permit prior to participating in the activity.

On over night activities, it is necessary for a Health Form to be completed and given to the leader. Any activity of more that 72 hours requires a Health Form that has been completed by a doctor. These forms are good for three years , with an annual review by a doctor.

Through proper planning and following a few guidelines, your unit leadership can provide fun, exciting, and safe activities.

Council Activities: Scout Week, Scouting for Food, Hike-A-Thon, Cub Scout Camping opportunities, Cub Scout Fun Day, Popcorn Sale, Webelos Trails.

District Activities: Pinewood Derbys, softball, and outdoor winter activities

Pack Activities: Pinewood Derbys, family outings, field trips to museums and other points of interest, summer activities and activities sponsored by other groups such as science centers, museums, and schools.

Outdoor activities for Cub Scouts

The Tall Pine Council provide several opportunities for Cub Scouts to participate in outdoor activities.

Cub Scout Day Camp: Each district hosts a three to four day camp for all Cub Scouts. There is always a theme that the activities are centered around. Most camps run from approximately 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Activities can include swimming, BB gun and archery range, crafts, and games. Cub Scouts sign up through their pack, and the pack must provide walkers to accompany their scouts.

Cub Scout Family Camp: Family Camps are held throughout the summer at camp Holaka, near Lapeer, Michigan. Each camp is set up for a Cub Scout and his Family to participate with him. The camps are Mom & Me, Lad & Dad, Parent & Pal, and Family Camp. These camps are held for two days and one night. There is also a two night and two day Lad & Dad Campout. Activities generally include BB gun and archery range, swimming, crafts, and games. A scout attends the camp of his choice based on the family members that attend with him. Scouts register for these camps through their pack.

Webelos Wonderland: Webelos Wonderland is a six day and five night camping experience held at Camp Tapico, near Kalkaska, Michigan. This camp is for first and second year Webelos. Staff is provided by the camp, but volunteer to serve in leadership positions also. Scouts register for this camp through their pack.

Webelos Trails: A weekend campout for first and second year Webelos held in the fall at Camp Holaka. Activities include BB gun and archery range, Activity Pin advancement, campsite cooking, crafts, and games. Scouts register through their pack and the pack provides the adult leadership necessary for the activity.

Cub Scout Fun Day: Is a one day event held in October at Camp Holaka for new Cub Scouts and their families held in October.
Activities include BB gun and archery range, games, crafts, nature, and sports.
