Boy Scouts

General Tour - For All Scout Levels

  • Scouts will tour Whaley Historical House and discover the Whaley family, local history, and life in the United States during the Victorian era.
  • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 1 hour.
  • Fee: $4.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)
  • American Heritage Merit Badge Tours - Boy Scouts
    • In addition to the General Tour, the American Heritage Merit Badge Tour will fulfill three of the five requirements to complete the badge: 1.B, 2.A, and 5.B. Whaley Historical House Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
    • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 2 hours.
    • Fee: $6.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)
  • Architecture Merit Badge Tours - Boy Scouts
  • In addition to the General Tour, Merit Badge Counselors are encouraged to call WHHM to arrange for special content on the architecture and restoration of the house. The tour will be conducted by a docent who has actively participated in the restoration.
  • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 2 hours.
  • Fee: $6.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)

Girl Scouts

General Tour - For All Scout Levels

  • Scouts will tour Whaley Historical House and discover the Whaley family, local history, and life in the United States during the Victorian era.
  • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 1 hour.
  • Fee: $4.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)
  • Local Lore Tour - Junior Scouts

    • In addition to the General Tour, Scouts will explore different architectural styles during a walking tour of the neighborhood surrounding Whaley Historical House, compare past and present maps of Flint, and create their own Victorian era newspaper. The tour and activities will fulfill activity numbers 1 - 5, 7, and 10 in the Junior Scout Manual.
    • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 2 hours. Due to outdoor portion of tour, Local Lore Tours are only available April through November.
    • Fee: $6.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)
  • Heritage Hunt Tour - Cadette and Senior Scouts
  • Scouts will examine the Whaley family and its connections to many of the prominent area families of the 1880s, compare life in the Victorian era to the present, and explore museum careers. Includes a General Tour of Whaley Historical House. This tour fulfills Skill Builders 1, 4, and 6; Technology 3 and 4; and Career Exploration 4 of the Heritage Hunt Interest Project.
  • Maximum: 20 Scouts; Tour Length: 2 hours.
  • Fee: $6.00 per Scout (Free for Leaders and Chaperones)
